La dégringolade de Radio-Canada

http://ptaff.ca/sigleSRC/logo.png

http://www.jedisaber.com/SW/wallpaper/light%20speed.jpg

New [Monopoly] kits are completely devoid of the famous multi-colored bills; instead, you'll find phoney Visa debit cards and a calculator / reader which keeps a running tabulation of your riches -- or lack thereof.

J'ai trouvé!

http://www.iosart.com/kpss/images/belgium2000/0292.big.jpg

Never mow the lawn again!

That is a very neat idea! Personally, I have always wondered why everybody has grass on their property. This is certainly both new and refreshing.

In this quintessential 1950’s tract community about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, the transformation of the Foti family’s front yard from one of grass to one dense with pattypan squash plants, cornstalks, millionaire eggplants, crimson sweet watermelons, dwarf curry trees and about 195 other edible varieties has been startling.

CIA goof

Funny little piece of satire.

A report released Tuesday by the CIA's Office of the Inspector General revealed that the CIA has mistakenly obscured hundreds of thousands of pages of critical intelligence information with black highlighters. According to the report, sections of the documents— "almost invariably the most crucial passages"—are marred by an indelible black ink that renders the lines impossible to read, due to a top-secret highlighting policy that began at the agency's inception in 1947.

Merci Anne-Sophie ), me revoilà.

Texas Hold'Em Artificial Intelligence

http://cache.kotaku.com/gaming/ChipS.jpg

This is pretty impressive for an AI. It seems realistic that poker would be a harder game to develop an AI for, since you don't have all the information,

Though not yet the equal of the best human players, GS1 outperformed the two leading "pokerbots" in playing heads-up, limit Texas Hold'Em in tests at Carnegie Mellon earlier this year. Both of GS1's opponents were commercially available programs that, like other pokerbots, incorporate the expertise of human poker players. GS1, by contrast, develops its strategy after performing an automated analysis of poker rules.

http://www.livecd.hu/files/livecd.hu/images/ubuntu.jpg
The Ubuntu project has announced a preliminary release schedule for the upcoming Ubuntu 6.10, code name "Edgy Eft": "Wondering when Edgy Eft will be released? No need to keep scratching your head. As expected, Edgy Eft will be released to the world in October of 2006, making it Ubuntu 6.10. The Edgy Eft development cycle is going to be a fast one with only around four months until its release." The first alpha release, called "Knot CD", is scheduled for release on 13 July, the beta for 28 September, the release candidate for 19 October and the final release for 26 October.

Probabilités appliquées: un ancêtre commun

http://www.alicesfamilytree.com/images/alice_family_tree.jpg

this was the ancestor of every person now living on Earth — the last person in history whose family tree branches out to touch all 6.5 billion people on the planet today. That means everybody on Earth descends from somebody who was around as recently as the reign of Tutankhamen, maybe even during the Golden Age of ancient Greece. There's even a chance that our last shared ancestor lived at the time of Christ.

About Net Neutrality

The image “http://www.weprintcolor.com/stockimages/Racing/images/Blue%20fiber%20optic%20wires%20against%20black%20background.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Net neutrality is a hot issue right now in the States. Net neutrality is basically how internet service providers (ISP) should not be able to discriminate on the kind of packet sent over their services. The telecommunication are dreaming of a world where VOIP packets are charged extra and they can sell extra fast access to content providers (imagine if Google took five times as much time as Yahoo to load. Which would you use?). Net neutrality aims to prevent that, and here is a prime example of a US senator who obviously does not know what he is talking about. Unfortunately enough, he is the one calling the shots.

I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the internet commercially.
